Frequently asked questions

Check the live status and 24-hour report chart above, then verify your address through the official Xfinity outage map. Comcast is the company behind the Xfinity brand, so searches for a Comcast internet outage usually refer to the same residential service. An outage may affect one neighborhood without taking Xfinity down everywhere.

Sign in to the Xfinity Status Center or app and check the outage map using your service address. You can also text “OUT” to 266278. This is more reliable for a local Comcast outage than relying only on nationwide user-report totals.

Check the estimated restoration time in the Xfinity app or Status Center and enable outage notifications when offered. Restoration estimates can change as technicians identify damage or complete repairs, so check the official status again if the deadline passes.

Your device may still be connected to the gateway even when the gateway has lost its connection to Xfinity. Check the outage map, test more than one device, inspect the gateway lights and cables, and restart the gateway. If every device remains offline, contact Xfinity rather than changing browser settings.

No VPN can restore an offline Xfinity line, damaged cable, or failed gateway. BearVPN may help only when your internet connection is active but local DNS, ISP routing, or filtering prevents particular sites or apps from loading. If every device is offline, use Xfinity’s outage and support tools.

Is Xfinity or Comcast Down Right Now?

Xfinity is online

No widespread Xfinity outage is detected right now. If your internet, WiFi, TV, or account access still fails, the problem may be limited to your address, gateway, or device.

Xfinity status is calculated from user-report volume compared with a rolling 24-hour baseline. Results refresh every 30 minutes, helping you distinguish a likely Comcast outage from a problem at your address or on your device.

How Our Xfinity Status Checker Works

We combine official data with a dynamic User-Report Baseline to calculate real-time connectivity. By analyzing user-reported issues over a rolling 24-hour window, our tool recalculates the health of each service every 30 minutes.

Online

When report volume remains below the 50% threshold, the service is confirmed "Online," reflecting stable performance and no widespread issues.

Partial outage

A report surge between 50% and 75% triggers a "Partial outage" alert, indicating localized disruptions or specific feature instability.

Down

Reports exceeding 75% of the baseline classify the service as "Down," signaling a critical failure or a major connectivity outage.

Official Sync

We synchronize with official platform status updates every 30 minutes to ensure major global outages are identified without fail.

Live User Reports

Our engine captures real-time feedback from users worldwide. When multiple reports are detected within a short window, the status instantly upgrades to "Partial Outage."

Anti-Spam Protection

To maintain data integrity, report submissions are limited to once every 10 minutes per IP address, preventing false alerts and ensuring accuracy.

Xfinity or Comcast Down? Run These Checks

Check whether the outage affects your address, then test the gateway, devices, cables, and network route. The right fix depends on whether Xfinity itself is down or only your connection is failing.

1
Test an Alternate Route with BearVPN

BearVPN cannot fix a damaged cable, offline gateway, or Xfinity outage. If Xfinity shows no outage and your connection works but only certain sites or apps fail, BearVPN lets you test an alternative route when DNS, ISP routing, or network filtering may be involved.

2
Test Devices, Cables, and DNS

If only one device is offline, reconnect it to WiFi and restart it. If every device is offline, check the gateway lights and cable connections. When the internet works but websites will not resolve, test another DNS service or network to isolate a possible DNS problem.

3
Restart Your Xfinity Gateway

Restart the gateway through the Xfinity app, or unplug its power cable for at least 30 seconds before reconnecting it. Wait for the status lights to stabilize, then test the connection again on more than one device.

4
Inspect the Official Xfinity Status

Sign in to the Xfinity app or open the official outage map to check your service address. You can also text “OUT” to 266278. When available, Xfinity will show the affected area and an estimated restoration time.

Xfinity Is Online but Specific Sites Still Fail? Test Another Route. When local DNS or ISP routing—not the Xfinity line itself—is blocking access, BearVPN encrypts your traffic and lets you switch routes through 2,000+ servers. It cannot restore a physical or service-wide outage.
